This stack was designed to keep track of information on journal references; something most students and professional people have to constantly contend with. At times the references have to be typed in. At other times it would be more convenient to import the data into the database from a text file created from an online database such as "BRS After Dark " or "Medline", etc. This stack will allow you to do either. It will also allow you to manipulate and use the information; searching it according to numerous criteria, sorting it , printing it and even exporting into other stacks or text files, using only the information relevant for the moment.
The stack is based on two other useful stacks, << EasyFile >> ($10 Shareware by D.Wheaton, DeeSoft Company, P.O. Box 5137 Decatur, Alabama,35601) and The "Stack Reporter V 1.2" by O Hill ($10 Shareware, 801 Temple St, San Diego, Ca 92106.) Both these stacks can be obtained from Genie or Compuserve. The second stack, Stack Reporter, is essential as the "Utilities" button is linked to it. (more...,scroll)
The use is fairly straight forward and self-explanatory. Use the "Tab" key to move from one field to the other. Always leave this card and the "Index Card" at the end of the stack so as to keep the reference numbers in order. Also, I have found that it is best not to sort by reference number in order to keep the records numbered properly. The musical sounds attached to the various buttons are not essential but may be installed as "snd" Xfnds , from the "Chords" stack on Genie. I have learned that installing them into the Hypercard program, rather than into the stack itself, saves some memory.
There are no doubt many other "bells and whistles" which can be added and I would be interested to hear about any suggestions and enhancements.
If you find the stack useful, please send $10.00 as a registration fee. This will entitle you to the latest update. Enjoy!
